A tooth file is used to clean the pulp and affected nerve of the canal. Then the dentist shapes the canal with filling material. Tooth irrigator is used to clean the canals and remove debris.
Then the canals are filled with permanent materials say gutta-percha, which keeps the tooth out of infection. A temporary filling is placed on the top of gutta-percha to seal the opening. The temporary filling remains in the place until it is covered by a crown or cap that looks like a natural tooth. Finally, the crown is cemented into the place. After the root canal treatment, patients are prescribed with painkillers and antibiotic to suppress the pain and prevent infection.
